Small blue & white bowl from The Hatcher Collection

This small blue and white bowl is from what is known as The Hatcher Collection. Captain Michael Hatcher salvaged this piece from a shipwreck of a Chinese vessel, just prior to 1984. The ship was wrecked around 1640, a period known as The Transitional Period. The ceramics were stored in the very bottom of the ship's holds and were beautifully preserved for hundreds of years. The bottom of the bowl is marked with a label reading "c. 1640 salvaged by Capt M. Hatcher from the South China Seas H&H 1985." The bowl measures approximately 2 1/2" wide and 3/4" high A wonderful piece of the Hatcher Cargo.
